Read, Make, Listen, Advocate, Give
UMBC BookFest is a celebration of writers, readers, makers, and advocates, featuring a book & craft market and speaker panels in partnership with the Maryland State Library Association and Maryland Humanities. I was contracted to design and execute the branding and marketing for the first ever UMBC BookFest, including look and feel, print and digital marketing materials, giveaway items, and signage for the event.
Roots in History
Drawing inspiration from the history of letterpress, this design concept mimics the texture and character of wood type. The compositions are arranged to resemble a typeset letterpress grid among books on a bookshelf, visually weaving together themes of the library and book arts.
at The event
Marketing for BookFest was a smash success, drawing hundreds of students across majors to engage with book arts. The event was featured in UMBC Magazine, and you can read the article outlining the impact here: UMBC opens a new chapter with inaugural BookFest.
